CUDDALORE: Two workers died and 16 others suffered injuries in a blast in unit 5 of NLC India Limited’s Thermal Power Station (TPS) II at Neyveli in Tamil Nadu on Wednesday. The cause of the accident is yet to be ascertained.
The injured workers were admitted to NLCIL general hospital for treatment.
The workers, who have sustained severe injuries, will be referred to hospitals in Trichy and Chennai.
The TPS II has seven units with a capacity of 210MW each. The plant has roughly 2,000 workers including administration and distribution staff members.
It may be recalled that four workers died and four others suffered injuries in a blast in unit 6 of the TPS II in May this year.
