DuPont Water Solutions participates in India Water Innovation Week

October 13, 2020: On October 8, 2020, expert members of the DuPont Water Solutions (DWS) team participated in a webinar examining processes relating to the recycling, reuse and recovery of water, as part of Smart Water and Waste World’s (SWWW) India Water Innovation Week.

Jochen Henkel, Technical Service Specialist for membrane applications, delivered a presentation outlining how DWS technology and collaboration among stakeholders had helped to overcome challenges at the Dow Terneuzen complex in the Netherlands. The introduction of ultrafiltration pre-treatment and ion exchange processes to the wastewater reuse treatment plant has delivered improved robustness to the reverse osmosis system, reducing organic- and biofouling, and eliminating the risk of scaling. These refinements to the existing system have increased recovery rates by up to 15% and the concentrate now benefits from additional re-use options.

Later in the session, Mahesh Manohar Kulkarni, a Technical Service & Development engineer from DWS in Mumbai, participated in a panel discussion exploring how the transition to a circular economy is creating the potential for significant synergies with greater adoption of water reuse as an alternate water supply. Alongside other wastewater experts, Mahesh discussed how the water industry can overcome barriers to water reuse, including how to shift public perceptions, deliver cost-effective solutions, develop the necessary technology, and ensure regulatory compliance.

Also included are the remote monitoring and diagnostics products-including the InSight* Knowledge Management Solution and TrueSense*-and Novus* polymers for wastewater treatment. Pulp and paper manufacturers also will have access to experts at GE’s Service Reliability Center for 24-hour monitoring and support, all backed by both GE and Kemira on-site expertise.
